We are all practicing social distancing and sanitizing during the COVID-19 situation to protect ourselves and our loved ones from the pandemic situation. But what about our clothes? Are we taking the required care of our clothes as well? Well, clothes are a common source by which infection can spread from person to person.

Various research works have stated that viral diseases like COVID-19 can easily spread from one person to another through the respiratory droplets of the infected person. That is why it is very important for us to do our laundry properly especially during the COVID-19 situation. This will prevent the spread of infection and will also keep you safe and sound.

Few things to keep in mind before doing laundry in COVID-19:

When you return home from any public places, you need not have to change all your clothes to prevent the spread of the disease. You can simply sanitize it. However, when you visit crowded places where your clothes come in contact with a lot of people, then it becomes important that you change your clothes and wash them properly so that your clothes do not expose you to the virus.

You need to be especially careful about managing your laundry during the COVID-19 situation. You must always have clean clothes, towel and linens at your place. Always wear gloves when you are doing the laundry of a sick person. It is even better if you can use disposable gloves so that you can throw them away after use. Reusable gloves must not be used for this purpose because the gloves can become a source of infection.

Never shake the dirty laundry. This will reduce the chances of the virus spreading through the air. You can try using warm water for washing the clothes. This will kill the germs and also leave your clothes completely clean. Sometimes, you can even add a few drops of disinfectant to the water with which you are doing your laundry.

Do not mix the clothes of a healthy person with that of an infected person. Always wash the clothes separately to reduce chances of an inspection. Also, wash your hands properly and sanitize them so that you do not come in direct contact with the virus. Keep the laundry hamper as clean as possible after you are done with your laundry. Otherwise, your fresh clothes can also get infected.

Do not store the unclean clothes for a prolonged duration of time. They can become the breeding grounds for viruses. You should try to do your laundry on a daily basis. Even if you are not able to clean your clothes every day, try to do your laundry at least once every alternate day.

So, these were some important tips and tricks that will allow you to do your laundry in the best way especially during the COVID-19 situation. If you have any other points to add, do let us know of them.
